American Companies' Influence on Brazil's Economy
When I asked Anastazja how she really felt about equal status, rights, and opportunities at work, she was like:
The tea from the interviews with policy makers on equal status, rights and opportunities at work and uncertainty about guarantee of equality and equal valuations of cultural capital suggests that migrant workers can easily flex into different areas with their qualifications. An equality and diversity officer spilled the tea: I peeped that my respondents were trying to deal with the straight up rudeness and mad pressure from their employer, but they were keeping quiet about it, which totally messed them up in so many ways. Many peeps tried to dip to another company to find a lit job with mad prosperity. But it was hella tough for them, fam. Asked what would be migrants’ vibes or feels about accessing jobs / employment most consistent with their skills and qualifications (figure 4.4), seventeen respondents said that it was not easy to get access to jobs most consistent with their cultural flex.
I'm like, totally getting the short end of the stick here. I don't have the same clout, perks, or chances as a local worker.
It's not cool, man. Victimisation happens to me 'cause I've been speaking out against getting paid less and having my wages unfairly cut, which is totally illegal. I've even let the Citizen Advice Bureau know that I'm gonna file a complaint about it. When I find out my pay gets docked from our wages, I'm like, "Bruh, what's the deal with this unfair wage docking? I've asked my line supervisor multiple times to spill the tea on why they're doing this." But I didn't get any lit answer, smh. A lil less than a quarter (outta twenty two who were like nah) said that employers not recognizing their potential messed with their understanding of equality and cultural capital. Ausra and Paulius are, like, total examples of how employers straight up slept on their mad qualities and abilities that would've totally led to major success for the business, you know? Ausra spilled the tea on how her hard work got wrecked by her shady boss: I always be grindin' and hustlin' the same amount of work or sometimes even more under that piece rate system, ya feel me? But my line supervisor never notes the correct figure, fam. She thinks I'm lowkey slacking
OMG, this was like a total mind-blowing stunt that went down multiple times.
Anastazja spilled the tea to me: My boss be knowing I got mad speed and skills, fam. Yet, I'm always in the dark cuz my manager never spills the tea on whether I'm doing piece work or what the rate is for that. Instead, like every day when I go to work, I gotta wait forever to get her instructions on what to do. It's her trick to make me procrastinate on getting stuff done while doing piece work so she can unfairly cut my pay. She wants to prove that I'm not meeting the targets. Just three peeps were vibin' with equal status, rights, and opportunities at work. The stories from Alina, described below, flex this fact. She's like, totally one-of-a-kind and it seems like she's had a pretty lit time. Her story might lowkey be a big deal for the POC and the white peeps. She thinks getting jobs that match her qualifications ain't no biggie. She totally went for a beauty therapist gig in the town, like yasss! She totally snagged the job, after being a short-listed candidate for a position in a bougie beauty salon. She already flexed on her current employer with a solid 4 weeks' notice. She's getting mad love from the Scottish fam she's grinding with. She's totally chill with her boss even though she never actually sees him. No biggie. She's totally cool with everyone being on the same level, having the same rights, and having the same chances at work. She thinks equal vibes of cultural clout are totally being secured for both the fam and the squad members.
